Ravenchord Piano Concept
The concert piano has remained largely unchanged for hundreds of years, with the sound reverberating off the lid, which, depending on the angle, also obscures the player's face. The Ravenchord from Whipsaw Design Lab reimagines it as a "front projection" instrument, with the strings arranged on a spiral-shaped steel frame. The hammers and dampers are housed on the center spine and activated by solenoids, while the keys sit on the top and the pedals are hidden behind the large back soundboard.
